New for this year were Toddler Tuesdays, with an enhanced and updated Fairytale Lane; and and Frightening Fridays, with "The Sideshow”, an adults only theme area brought to us by HAVOK a group of scarily talented individuals only for the brave. And of course there was the popular Captain Jack Scarecrow and his band of merry swashbucklers, the Castle Inhabitants, Myron the Juggler, the Ent Forest, the Gypsy Village, the Froglegs Disco, Indianna Bones, the Aliens site, the Graveyard, the Witches Way and the Swamp Maze (full of frogs).
Over 50,000 visitors joined us for our 13th Annual spooktacular fund raiser. Thanks!
Boo 2007:
We had a fabulous year with more than 52,000 visitors and a significantly high amount of fun. Our two specialized areas, the Eww at the Zoo education trailer and the Trail of Terror thrilled and surprised their respective audiences. Our new elements were a huge hit and we had lots of positive comments about the revisioned lighting and effects.
We could never run this fund raiser without the help of our hundreds of volunteers and great sponsors and supporters. Thanks to all of your hard work and dedication we have been able to raise many proceeds that will be funnelled into new projects at the zoo in 2008. We will update you in the days and weeks to come but we can already say that 2008 will be "Steller"!
Boo 2006:
It was another spine-tingling romp through the darkened pathways of the Assiniboine Park Zoo for our 11th Annual Safeway Boo at the Zoo. We rolled out the red carpet for you and all of your frightening friends for a Hollyween extravaganza and we hope you enjoyed your visit. We had mummies, monsters and movie stars plus ghostly cowboys and ghastly pirates, aliens and of course witches. We even created HAVOC for all of Winnipeg to enjoy. Thanks to everyone who came dressed in costume, it really helped to and share in the spirit of the Zoological Society’s largest annual fundraiser. We were spooked to see you and the rest of the other 45,000 fiends at the Boo!
